Weather & light · updated 11 September

Milder than the seasonal average. Highs are running 28–29°C rather than the 30–32°C norm, nights 21–22°C, and humidity is low at 29–36%. Sea is 28.3°C, easing to about 28.1°C over the next ten days. Pleasant rather than punishing — midday in shade is fine, though UV hits 5 so hats and cover still apply.

Thursday 24th is the one weather day — 57% chance of isolated thunderstorms late in the day, 3.3 mm. Everything else in range sits at 3–4% rain. The plan below puts Thursday's activity in the morning and keeps that evening loose. It's a 13-day-out forecast, so re-check around the 19th.
Golden hour is 17:50–18:50, shrinking by about a minute a day across the week. Blue hour runs roughly 25 minutes past sunset. Be in position by 17:45, not 18:30. Sunrise is a civilised 06:45, so dawn shoots don't require a brutal alarm. The equinox falls on Wed 23rd at 03:05 — day and night are near-equal all week.

Day by day

Tue 22Arrival
Travel only · no plans
Evening
Land 23:20. Pre-booked transfer, 20 min. Door code 55563, remember the confirmation button. At the apartment around 00:15. Bed.
Wed 23Kaleiçi on foot
No car · everything within 10 minutes' walk · gentle after a late night
Late am
No alarm. Wander out into the old town whenever you surface — Hadrian's Gate is 7 minutes away and the side lanes stay quiet even mid-morning. Loop down through Kesik Minare to the harbour steps and the marina.
Afternoon
Back for lunch and a proper nap. If anyone's still going, the Suna & İnan Kıraç Kaleiçi Museum is five minutes from the door — a restored Ottoman house and the old Greek Orthodox church of St George. Twenty minutes, shaded, atmospheric.
17:45
Golden hour. Hıdırlık Tower, then along the cliff into Karaalioğlu Park — it faces west across the bay to the Beydağları and this is the defining Antalya shot. Sunset 18:52, blue hour to 19:18.
Eat: walk 5–10 min north-east to Işıklar Caddesi rather than the harbour. Look for piyaz — the Antalya white-bean salad with tahini — and şiş köfte.
Thu 24Perge & Aspendos
Car day 1 · storms possible late — activity front-loaded
08:00
Car delivered to the apartment. Drive to Perge, 30 min east, for opening. Prioritise this one: a colonnaded street half a kilometre long with mountains closing the far end, a stadium and baths — and crucially it's flat and open, so it genuinely works with a stroller where most Turkish ruins don't. Near-empty at that hour.
10:30
Aspendos, 25 min further east — the best-preserved Roman theatre anywhere. You walk in and it's simply intact. An hour is plenty.
13:00
Back for lunch and a long nap.
17:30
Lower Düden Waterfall at Lara, 15 min east, where the river drops off a cliff straight into the Mediterranean. Late light hits the falls head-on. Flat paths, viewing platforms. Watch the sky — if storms are building, skip it and keep the evening indoors; the falls keep until Sunday.
Eat: take water and snacks for the ruins — shade is thin at Perge. Park the car overnight on the street at the apartment.
Fri 25Phaselis
Car day 2 · sunny · the best day for Jordan
08:30
Drive an hour south-west to Phaselis. Roman ruins scattered through umbrella pines around three small bays, and you can swim straight off the ancient harbour. Ruins and a beach in one stop, shade throughout, shallow water at 28°C. Photographically it's pine shadows on marble, the aqueduct, and Mount Olympos behind. Take a picnic — on-site food is limited.
14:30
Back mid-afternoon. Nap.
17:30
Tünektepe cable car on the ridge west of the city — full panorama of the bay and the mountains at sunset (18:49). It's on the right side of town coming back from Phaselis, so it costs you nothing in driving.
Eat: late dinner back in Kaleiçi. Car goes back Saturday morning — check the return time when you book.
Sat 26Dawn, then the beach
No car · tram or short taxi to Konyaaltı
06:45
The dawn walk. By now you're adjusted and this is the morning for it — Kaleiçi's lanes shuttered and empty, light bouncing off the white walls, cats, nobody. Sunrise 06:48; give it 90 minutes, then breakfast.
Late am
Konyaaltı beach, 15 min by tram or taxi. Clean pebbles, the Beydağları rising straight out of the water behind, sea at 28°C.
Afternoon
Nap.
17:45
Harbour and marina at golden hour — boats against the cliff face, different light entirely from Wednesday's park view. Sunset 18:48.
Eat: Saturday evening the old town is busy in a good way. If you want the scenic-but-touristy option, the harbour restaurants come into their own after dark.
Sun 27Balbey & the last evening
No car · the quietest photography of the week
Morning
Balbey quarter, immediately north-east of the old town — half-abandoned Ottoman houses, washing lines, real street life and almost no visitors. The best street photography in Antalya and most people never walk into it. Carry on into the Şarampol / Kazım Özalp pedestrian streets for market life.
Afternoon
Nap, then pack. If Thursday's waterfall got rained off, this is the slot — taxi to Lower Düden and back, about 15 minutes each way.
17:45
Last sunset at Karaalioğlu Park (18:46), then a proper final dinner.
Eat: Antalya specialities worth hunting down — hibeş (tahini and cumin dip), tandır, and a serpme kahvaltı spread if you fancy breakfast for dinner.
Mon 28Home
Checkout 10:00 · flight 13:05
Morning
Out by 10:00 — the lock code dies then regardless of what checkout time you agree. Airport is 20 minutes. Flight 13:05, Birmingham 15:55. Luggage drop-off is allowed at the property if you want a last hour in the old town.
Deliberately left out. Termessos — spectacular, but a steep 30-minute uphill scramble and not a toddler proposition. The Antalya Archaeological Museum — closed, demolished and being rebuilt, due back end of 2026. Side — the classic Temple of Apollo sunset, but 1h15 each way and the most touristed place in the region; a swap for Phaselis only if the mood takes you.
